App Version: 1.0.2 | Last Updated: March 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Simple Expense Tracker ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your data when you use our mobile application.
1. Data Collection and Usage Disclosure
We are committed to transparency. The App collects the following types of data for the specific purposes outlined below:
A. Personal Information
- Email Address & Name: Collected when you sign in via Google. Used to identify you in shared "Books" and to sync your data across devices.
- Phone Number: Collected via Firebase Authentication if you choose to link your phone. Used for account security and recovery.
B. Financial Tracking Data
- Transaction Details: Title of expense, amount, date, and category.
- Book Metadata: Names and ordering of your expense collections.
- Usage: This data is used solely to provide the core functionality of the app—tracking and displaying your personal expenses.
C. Healthcare Data (Financial Only)
- The "Healthcare" Category: The App provides a default category labeled "Healthcare" (or "Health").
- Specific Disclosure: This category is intended strictly for tracking financial expenditures (e.g., medical bills, insurance premiums, pharmacy costs).
- Prohibited Data: We DO NOT access, collect, or transmit any physiological, biological, or medical health data (such as heart rate, medical history, or diagnosis). We are not a health app and do not integrate with medical devices or health APIs.
D. Device and Technical Information
- FCM Tokens: Used by Google Firebase Messaging to send you real-time notifications about shared book updates.
- Device ID & IP: Used by our advertising and subscription partners (AdMob and RevenueCat) for attribution and anti-fraud purposes.
2. Third-Party Service Providers
To provide our services, we integrate with the following third-party platforms. Each has its own privacy practices:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC): Used for user authentication (Auth), data synchronization (Firestore), and cloud messaging (FCM). Privacy Policy
- Google AdMob (Google LLC): Used to display advertisements to free users. Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.): Used to manage and verify in-app subscriptions and premium entitlements. Privacy Policy
3. Data Retention and Storage
- Storage: Your data is stored locally on your device (SQLite) and, if you use cloud features, encrypted on Google's Firebase servers.
- Retention Period:
- Active Accounts: Data is retained as long as your account is active to provide ongoing service.
- Inactivity: We periodically purge data for accounts that have been completely inactive (no logins) for more than 24 months.
- Local Data: Remains on your device until you clear the app cache or uninstall the App.
- Chats: Chats are end-to-end encrypted and we don't store that on our server.
4. Data Deletion and Your Rights
You have the absolute right to access, modify, or delete your data at any time.
How to Delete Your Data:
- In-App Deletion: You can delete individual transactions or entire Books at any time. This removes them from your device and our cloud servers immediately.
- Global Data Scrub: Navigate to Settings > Delete Cloud Data.
- This action will immediately and permanently scrub your profile, phone number, and all cloud-synced books owned by you from our servers.
- All shared book memberships will be terminated.
- Local Wipe: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data that hasn't been synced to the cloud.
5. Compliance with User Data Policy
The App does not sell your data. We do not use your information for any purpose other than providing and improving the expense tracking experience.
